Inconel 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy used for applications that require corrosion and high temperature resistance. This nickel alloy was designed for service temperatures from cryogenic to elevated temperatures in the range of 2000 Degree F. It is non-magnetic, has excellent mechanical properties, and presents the desirable combination of high strength and good weldability under a wide range of temperatures. The high nickel content in Inconel 600 enables it to retain considerable resistance under reducing conditions, makes it resistant to corrosion by a number of organic and inorganic compounds, gives it excellent resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking and also provides excellent resistance to alkaline solutions. Typical applications of this nickel alloy include the chemical, pulp and paper, aerospace, nuclear engineering and heat treating industries.

Inconel sheets/platesexhibit superior strength and durability and are prized for their outstanding oxidation and corrosion resistance. Maintaining their integrity across a temperature range spanning from cryogenic deep-freezes to 1000 degrees Celsius/2000 degrees Fahrenheit, Inconel sheets are nickel-based, using columbium and molybdenum as refractory metals. During testing in hostile corrosive conditions,Inconeldisplayed near-impenetrable resistance to salt water, neutral salts, fresh water, air and alkaline chemicals.

Inconel nuts and lock nuts, like Inconel 600, 601,625, 686, 718 & 725 nuts, are a family of nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys used for their high strength at elevated temperatures and good corrosion resistance. Because of its high thermal stability, Inconel can be used in service temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 2200 DegreeF (982 DegreeC). The high alloy content of Inconel nuts enable it to withstand a wide variety of severe corrosive environments. In mild environments, such as the atmosphere, sea water, neutral salts, and alkaline media, there is almost no attack to Inconel nuts. In more severe corrosive environments the combination of nickel and chromium provides resistance to oxidizing chemicals, whereas the high nickel and molybdenum contents supply resistance to nonoxidizing environments.
Because Inconel nuts offer a good balance of corrosion resistance, temperature stability, toughness and strength they are often a material of choice for chemical processing, aerospace, marine, electronics and oil & gas.
The most common grades of Inconel nickel alloy nuts areInconel 625andInconel 718. Gain more insight on these two grades by accessing ourInconel 625andInconel 718overviews or by contacting our engineering experts.
